V. HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
Effects of Exposure:
To the best of our knowledge the chemical, physical and toxicological properties of gallium have not been thoroughly investigated and reported.
Gallium and gallium compounds may cause metallic taste, skin rashes and depression of bone marrow function as well as anorexia, nausea and vomiting. Large doses may cause hemorrhagic nephritis.
Acute Effects:
Inhalation: May cause irritation to the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
Ingestion: May cause anorexia, nausea and vomiting.
Skin: May cause severe irritation. Poison by subcutaneous and intravenous routes.
Eye: May cause severe eye irritation.
Chronic Effects:
Inhalation: May cause depression of bone marrow function.
Ingestion: No chronic health effects recorded.
Skin: May cause dermatitis and depression of bone marrow function.
Eye: No chronic health effects recorded.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
INHALATION: Remove to fresh air, keep warm and quiet, give oxygen if breathing is difficult, seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
INGESTION: Rinse mouth with water and spit. Give 1-2 glasses of milk or water and induce vomiting, seek medical attention. Never induce vomiting or give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
SKIN: Wash affected area with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops or persists.
EYE: Flush eyes, including under upper and lower eyelids, with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes using an eyewash fountain. Seek medical attention.

VII. SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled: Wear appropriate respiratory and protective equipment specified in section VIII. Sweep solid into appropriate container and hold for recycling. If possible, freeze liquid gallium with CO2 and place in sealed container for recycling. Ventilate area. Wash spill area after material pickup is complete.
Waste Disposal Method: Dispose of in accordance with Local, State and Federal regulations.
VIII. SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
Respiratory Protection: NIOSH approved respirator.
Ventilation: If dust, fume or mist will be generated use local exhaust to maintain concentration at low exposure limits. General exhaust is recommended.
Protective Gloves: Rubber gloves

Other Protective Clothing or Equipment: Protective gear suitable to prevent contamination.
IX. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Precautions to Be Taken in Handling and Storage: Store in cool dry place, in tightly sealed containers. Wear gloves in order to prevent contamination of the product. Avoid moisture as this will discolor product. Avoid direct or prolonged contact with skin and eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Do not rub eyes with soiled hands.
Other Precautions: Refrigerate. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.
Work Practices: Implement engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain concentration of exposure at low levels. Use good housekeeping and sanitation practices. Do not use tobacco or food in work area. Wash thoroughly before eating and smoking. Do not blow dust off clothing or skin with compressed air. Maintain eyewash capable of sustained flushing, safety drench shower and facilities for washing.
