Permissible Exposure Limit:

 

TLV for Se compounds (as Se): 0.2 mg/m3; OSHA PEL = 0.2 mg/m3

TLV for Tin, inorganic compounds: 2 mg/m3; OSHA PEL = 2 mg/m3

 

Effects of Overexposure: Irritation: To dust; Eye, Skin irritation. Mild (transient) also Mucous Membranes.

Corrosivity: None                                                                                                  Sensitization: None

 

Lung Effects: Dusts of this compound can cause irritation, metallic taste and a garlic-like odor to the breath. High concentration can cause shortness of breath, chills, bronchospasms, fever, headache and delayed pulmonary edema. May aggravate pre-existing lung disorders.

Other (specify): Repeated skin contact could cause an allergic-type dermatitis. Not an ingestion hazard. Selenium and tin are not implicated as a carcinogen.

 

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

 

EYES: Flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes.

SKIN: Flush with soap and water.

INHALATION: Remove to fresh air.

INGESTION: Induce vomiting.
