Effects of Overexposure (Acute and Chronic):

 

Inhalation: Respiratory irritant. May cause severe damage to respiratory membranes. Symptoms of exposure include coughing, wheezing, difficult breathing, irritation of respiratory membrane, sneezing, bronchitis, ulceration of respiratory membranes and pulmonary edema.

Skin: Corrosive to moist skin. Can cause redness, irritation, itching, dermatitis and ulceration.

Eye: Corrosive. Risk of serious injury. Can cause watering, redness, burning sensation and inflammation.

Ingestion: Sensation of burning mouth, ammonia odor to breath, pain in swallowing, swelling, of throat, profuse salivation, nausea and vomiting, stomach cramps and rapid breathing.

 

Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: May aggravate pre-existing lung disorders.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

 

EYE: Flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

SKIN: Wash skin with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention.

INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. Seek medical attention immediately. Give oxygen if breathing is difficult.

INGESTION: SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. Do not induce vomiting. Give 1-2 glasses of milk or water.

Vacuum up spill using a HEPA unit and place in a container for proper disposal. Take care not to raise dust.

 

Waste Disposal Method: Disposal must be made in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations.
