Routes of Entry: Inhalation and skin.

 

Effects of Overexposure:

 

Inhalation: Chromium dusts can cause irritation of the nose, throat and mucous membranes as well as soreness of the nose and throat.

Dermal/Eye Contact: May cause irritation. Repeated or prolonged contact with certain chromium compounds can cause eczematous dermatitis.

Other: Insoluble chromium compounds exhibit very low oral toxicity. No specific signs of chromium toxicity have been reported.

 

Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: pre-existing lung disorders.

Carcinogencity: Chromium: NTP and IARC Monographs.

 

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

 

EYES: Flush eyes with water to remove particles. If irritation persists, contact a physician.

SKIN: Wash with soap and water.

INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. Treat symptomatically.

INGESTION: Give victim fluids, then induce vomiting. Seek medical assistance.
