V           HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION


 

 

Effects of Exposure: Boron oxide may produce irritation of the nasal mucous membranes and the respiratory tract. Mild irritation to the skin, eye, and mucous membranes. Prolonged skin contact may result in redness and irritation.

 

Toxicity Data: Skin-rabbit: 1 gm                Eye- rabbit: 50 mg

 

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

 

INHALATION: Remove to fresh air.

INGESTION: Induce vomiting, seek immediate medical attention.

SKIN: Remove any contaminated clothing, brush material off skin, flush with running water, wash carefully with soap and water.

EYES: Flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes.

Precautions to Be Taken in Handling and Storage: Store in cool, dry well-ventilated area. Keep tightly sealed when not in use, read MSDS before using. Wash thoroughly after use.

 

Work Practices: Implement engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain concentration of exposure. Use good housekeeping and sanitation practices. Do not use tobacco or food in work area. Wash thoroughly before eating or smoking. Do not blow dust off clothing or skin with compressed air. Maintain eyewash capable of sustained flushing, safety drench shower and facilities for washing.
