PALLADIUM
(Pd)
MATERIAL
OVERVIEW
Characteristics:
Silver-white, ductile metal which does not tarnish in
air. It is the least noble (most reactive) of the
platinum group. Absorbs up to 800 times its own volume
of hydrogen. Attacked by hot, concentrated nitric acid
and boiling sulfuric acid. Soluble in aqua regia and
fused alkalies. Insoluble in organic acids. Good
electrical conductor. Nontoxic; noncombustible, except
as dust.
