The closed distillation process first heats the mercury to a constant temperature under vacuum. The resulting mercury vapor is then captured in vapor coils that are cooled by high velocity fans. After distillation the material is visually inspected and the "Wichers Test" is performed. The test is done by pouring a small amount of mercury into a clean stainless steel or plastic dish and observing a clean mirror-like surface. The test is concluded when the mercury in the dish is swirled and no "tailing" appears. The mercury is then analyzed by an independent laboratory.Typical Analysis in Parts per Billion: Hg: 99.99985+
